GM Reveals New electric vehicle Platform for Lower Cost Batteries
General Motors (GM) has unveiled a new electric vehicle (EV) architecture that will have less expensive batteries, making EVs more accessible to the general public. The brand-new Ultium platform is intended to be adaptable, enabling the production of a variety of various vehicle types and sizes.
The platform’s batteries will be made in a joint venture with LG Chem using a proprietary low-cobalt chemistry, according to GM, which will lower prices and increase energy density.
The Cadillac Lyriq, the GMC Hummer EV, and several other upcoming GM cars will all be built on the Ultium platform.
